MY PHILOSOPHIES

Philosophy 1
I believe participation is important for children to be engaged. I believe that just lecturing is not an effective way to teach lessons. If a lesson can be paired with an interactive activity students will understand the material more.
Philosophy 2
In order for students to learn properly they must feel safe. I want to make it my goal to provide a safe space for students to come to. This is particularly important for children who do not have a safe space at home.
Philosophy 3
It is important for students to have confidence in their abilities. One thing a teacher can do wrong is ridicule a student based on their abilities. By sticking by a child and pushing them to do better you show them that you care. It is imperative to have teacher support and involvement for a student’s academic success
By incorporating these elements in my classroom I will make the students feel more comfortable. Students who are safe, confident and engaged will learn more effectively. Everything is not just about passing tests, it is also about the student’s well being.
